Darlene’s Story -Visit By an Angel

written by Darlene A.

Several years ago ,my mom was diagnosed with a brain tumor. The tumor was surgically removed, but sadly, it and the surgery left her emotionally unmoored, unable to grapple with her surroundings or her feelings. It was an incredibly tough period for her and for us, her family.

One evening, after a grueling day at work, I visited her in the hospital. That night, she lashed out at me, her words sharper than I had ever heard.Overwhelmed, I found myself weeping in the doorway of her room. It was then that a stranger, seeing my distress, gently approached. She invited me to join her for a walk down the corridor. Draping her arm around me, we paced the halls together. Though her lips moved silently, as if in prayer, her words were indiscernible to me. Yet, as we walked, a profound warmth and serenity enveloped me, easing my anguish into a tranquil peace. When we returned to my mom’s room, the change in the air was palpable- she was calm, collected, almost serene. Our visit that night was one of quiet understanding and connection.

As I drove home, regret washed over me-I had forgotten to thank the compassionate nurse who had comforted me. Eager to express my gratitude, I returned the next evening, describing her to the staff at the nurse’s station as a very dark-complected lady in a white uniform. But confusion crossed their faces. There was no one matching that description. None knew of whom I spoke and there was no record of her presence. As I walked away, a realization dawned on me:perhaps she wasn’t of this world.Perhaps she was an angel ,sent in my darkest hour to offer solace and guide me through turmoil.

I never saw her again after that night, but I hold in my heart the belief that she was a divine presence, an angel sent to comfort me when I needed it the most.

  1. Scripture tells of God sending angels as messengers and protectors. Sometimes He causes the Spirit in others to come to us in our time of need. The lady may have been an angel or she may have been a visitor from a nearby room who heard what transpired. Either way, God orchestrated the interaction out of love to show His presence and mercy. The result was a “peace that surpasses all understanding”; either way it was a touch from the Devine.

  2. Wow. Thanks for sharing.
Wow. Hebrew 1:13 And to which of the angels has he ever said, “Sit at my right hand
until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet”? 14 Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?

And Hebrews 13:1 Let brotherly love continue. 2 Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels.

  3. What a wonderful experience! I love it.!
God’s Word is so trustworthy and reliable. He
ask that we do not fear because he is with us….. He promise to strengthen and help us!

    God bless

  4. It reminded me of an incident recently. My neighbor friend is dying at home and loves angels. I went to rent a car that afternoon and the man renting the car was very helpful in checking out the car. When we were finished he said my name is Angel by the way, Do you have any questions?
